TENCEL

TENCEL® is unique because it is manufactured in an eco-friendly manner. This process is revolutionary. TENCEL fiber originates from wood pulp and is processed using a dissolving agent that is recycled.

Renewable Resource
Cellulose is the natural polymer that makes up the living cells of all vegetation. It is the most abundant and readily renewable biopolymer on earth. TENCEL originates from wood pulp from trees grown on managed tree farms where replanting rates exceed usage.

Environmentally Friendly Process
Courtaulds Fibers has engineered a unique solvent spinning process for cellulosic fiber. This process allows wood pulp to be dissolved in a non-toxic organic solvent and directly extruded into fiber. No chemical reactions take place thus eliminating any unpleasant polluting by-products.

Biodegradable and Disposable
Products made from TENCEL can be digested in sewage. The fiber will degrade completely in just eight days. Also, these products can be recycled or incinerated.

Care
Many fabrics made of TENCEL are machine washable; they may also be dry cleaned. Clothing manufacturers may add finishing touches to fabrics, so it is best to check the garment's care label. By Design recommends dry cleaning for its rainwear collection.
